MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – DEBACLE

This weeks it’s still all about STOPPING POWER and the impending release of the second episode in the series on Friday 9th Sept.

I’m just about to finish the final revision run through of episode 7 and then I’ll be putting 5, 6 and 7 through Prowritingaid before a final read, then it will be off to the editor.

Despite a debacle with the printers, whereby they somehow managed to staple the episode 2 covers to the episode 3 content and vice versa, I now have the printed editions of episode 2 and 3. My first thought was that I’d made a very costly screwup with the artwork, but thankfully it was completely the printer’s fault.

I’m disappointed with the production differences between the three booklets as episode 2 has a matt finished cover and both 1 & 3 have a more glossy finish. It’s not a big deal and because I have already had a reprint of episode 2 I’m not going to complain again. The differences are due to which equipment they print the covers on and I have no way of specifying this in the ordering process.

Episode 4 has now been proof read and after formatting it will hopefully be off to the printers in the next few days.

All of my promotion efforts have been on trying to get episode one into people’s hands, either by giving the A6 copy to people for free, around 150 free copies given away to date, or giving a free download of the ebook edition via bookfunnel. As we get closer to the release date I will be offering IN THE END at a special office price and setting the Kindle version to free for a week as well. I may change the first episode to be perma-free, but I’m yet to decide.

This evening, Friday, I will being doing a takeover of the Zombie Facebook group I am an admin for, WRITTEN UNDEAD, where I have two hours of giveaways and competitions to try and get people salivating over the work.

Efforts so far have yielded a few physical pre-orders and low two digit Amazon pre-orders for episode 2.

Tomorrow is my first physical event since the summer break and I’ll be in Henley on Thames Town Hall from 10am if you want to pop along and see me do my thing.

That’s it for this week and I will be back as we get closer to the next release. As always, comments and suggestions are welcomed.
