WORK IN PROGRESS

It feels like I’ve been editing THEIR RIGHT TO VENGEANCE forever now, so much so I had to look back over this blog to see when I started. It turns out it’s been less than three months. I’m now about halfway through this editing run whereby I’m effectively doing two runs in quick succession. As always, some chapters are taking much more time than the others. The next run will be using ProWritingAid and then a final read through before editing.

My mind has already turned to what I’m going to work on next.

I have the pickups to approve for the audiobook of STOPPING POWER and then it shouldn’t be too much longer before its out!

EVENTS

Last Saturday I was a Salisbury, which is traditionally my strongest event. A combination of being sited in the entrance hall where I couldn’t nab people to come to my table and the hot weather meant that although I made a decent profit, it was the lowest for this location so far.

The trespassing sign I posted about last week got some smiles from a few people so I’ll continue to keep that with me. I’ve decided to trial a new table layout, in part because I’m always worried about my table being too cluttered, and because I’m writing all the time, I want to be able to add more books in. My current setup does not allow for that.

I’ve done a trial run of the new layout at home and it gives equal billing to each of my books, and I’ve had some more advertising printed, yes more print. I’m excited to trial it out when I’m at Lymington for another event tomorrow!

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

The IN THE END campaign continues strong and is always bringing in much more than its cost. I stopped the advert for YBWSI as I only made two sales in a week. I have instead decided to concentrate on getting more reviews before I advertise. To do this I’ll be offering more review copies for free.

I also halted the STOPPING POWER adverts as sales had dried up. Instead I’m testing a new approach and that is to point a new advert to the first episode of the series which is only 99p/99c in the hope that will be an easy buying decision and then if they like it they can read the full version. I have updated the A+ content and the information in the description and back matter of the first episode to drive people to the full book once the have read the first episode. If this does not work then I may put the price for the first book to free and see how that goes. That is however a bit of a pain as I will need to withdraw it from KU and then price match it. I could try doing a free promotion on the ep first to trial it. At least there are options.

I think that’s about it for this week. Next week I will be able to show you photos of my new table layout and if it made a difference.
