MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – GOT IT COVERED

The big news this week is that I’ve signed off the new cover for FATE’S AMBITION! I really liked the first attempt of the cover the new company produced and all I had to ask for was one minor change, then I was totally happy.

Despite this, I showed it to a few fans I valued the opinion of and it got the thumbs up.

Although I’m not quite ready to reveal it yet, I have got a sneak peak for you. Please excuse the company’s watermarking as they haven’t delivered the final files yet because they’re doing a tweak to the marketing materials.

Next week I’ll be sharing it with my mailing list but I’m not updating the actual books themselves until I have the cover ready for book 2 as I need to put it in the back of book 1! This timescale will also be guided by how quickly I sell my stock of paperbacks with the old cover because I know that when the new cover hits, I’ll want to sell those rather than the old one and it will be a waste of my current stock.

When I release the cover I’ll pop the ebook pricing down to 99c/99p for the foreseeable future to try and help people get into the series and boost reviews.

WORK IN PROGRESS

I completed the first run-through of the third in the James Fisher / Fate’s Ambition series and now I’m motoring through the second review, already hitting the 28,000 word mark, so about a quarter of the way through. It’s a bit early to tell if this means I can hit the mid October target for getting to my editor.

SALES & MARKETING

The Facebook campaign is going okay. I’m getting about a 50% return on my investment which is a decent enough level, so I’ll keep sticking with it for now.

EVENTS

This Saturday I’m in Thame in Oxfordshire, and I’m looking forward to the event more this week as I want to take my new car for a drive. It’s a hybrid and I’m a gadget geek so it will be interesting to see how it performs on a long run.

Next week we take my daughter to university, so I hopefully won’t forget to do this post in time because the next day I’m away with friends hiking in Dartmoor for our annual hiking trip. Either way I will be back with a post at some point.
