MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – ALTERNATIVE

WORK IN PROGRESS

I’m still working through the second draft of LOST AMONGST THE STARS, although progress is good, and it’s sitting at around 59,000 words. Based on my current rate I think it will hit no more than 65,000 total. That’s about midway between my upper and lower limits of where I wanted it to be.

MARKETING & PROMOTION

With sales in the tank, as expected, I’m only getting page reads at the moment and these are the books from the FATE’S AMBITION series and STOPPING POWER, for which I put these down to my recent promotions.

I’ve decided to run a promotion with OPERATION DAWN WOLF at 99p/99c and try the same free third party mailing lists as before to see what traction I get. I also think I might try the same but with some paid lists in the near future. The next Kindle Select period starts in April, which is when I can run a new promo, so it wouldn’t be long to wait.

EVENTS

Tomorrow is my first event of 2024 and I’m super excited to get things going again. The only slight fly in the ointment is that I wont have the dyslexia friendly books as I haven’t received my latest author copies yet. Hopefully they won’t be too much longer as they’re a real talking point.

I have a new banner and new business cards with all of my books on, plus the James Fisher set is now completed. The impatient part of me wishes LOST AMONGST THE STARS was ready to show off as well. I don’t think that will be available until the summer.

Next weekend I’m hoping to attend an event for independent publishers so I get to meet my editor for the first time in person. It will just be a flying visit to Islington for the Alternative Book Fair as I’m off to Wales for a party in the afternoon.

Right. That’s it for this week. Comments and suggestions welcomed as always.
