MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – AIR

EVENTS

Last weekend I was at Henley Town Hall for a craft fair. It was my seventh time at the location which has generally achieved average profit across the previous markets. Although the town centre was reported to be pretty quiet, I managed to exceed the average by quite a bit!

One interaction still sticks out from the many hundreds of the people I spoke to. I vaguely recognised a guy and caught his and his wife’s attention. He came over and said that he’d read one of my books. After not having the best of feedback from someone last week, I was a little reluctant but I asked which book it was. He wasn’t sure and so I briefly explained each of my series and as soon as I came to FATE’S AMBITION his eyes lit up. He told me that was the one and he started telling what happened. Glowing inside as he recounted the story, I had to tell him how surreal it was to hear someone else outline the plot of one of my novels.

He told me how much he’d enjoyed the book and then said that even though he’d read it quite some time ago, he still thought about it often! Wow, I thought to myself. If ever there was a reaction you want as an author, that was it. Even better, I explained that the story continued in another two books and a couple of minutes later he walked away having bought them both.

I was positively walking on air for the rest of the event!

It’s a weekend off for me this week, although I’ll be working on my garden landscaping project, and then it’s back to one of my other stand out events, Salisbury.

In the quiet time in Henley I also managed to refine my idea of how I can extend the use of my table to show off more books, and I’ll be working on the modifications this weekend if I get a chance.

WORK IN PROGRESS

The ProWritingAid pass through LOST AMONGST THE STARS is completed and it shed around 2,000 words from the MS. Now I’m already two-thirds of the way through the final run through before edit. Not long now!

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

The renewed Facebook marketing campaign is going strong, and running at an 80% return on investment, which I cannot complain about. Even after just under two weeks, I don’t yet feel the need to renew it again. I have been tempted to increase the spend, but for now I’ll hold firm .

It’s a short post this week as much of my effort is focused on writing with not much else going on. I’ll be working on something new next week!
