MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – COMMENT

Apart from writing, this week has been all about reviews. I’ve been contacting random bookstagrammers to see if they will review LOST AMONGST THE STARS and spread the joy to the followers. About of around a hundred I think I’ve had about ten replies and half of them have said they’d review the book.

I’ve had one back and she gave me a lovely video review, you can check out my Instagram page if you want to see her short video, @gjstevens_author. She also gave me a lovely five star review on Amazon which I didn’t expect.

I currently have 6 global reviews and I’m expecting more in the coming days. Watch this space.

MARKETING & PROMOTION

The Facebook ads continue on just as they have before, needing a reset after a couple of weeks so they kick back into gear again.

EVENTS

Last week I was a Devizes in Wiltshire and it was a bit of a let down. The morning went well with a constant, if not bulging, stream of people attending, but it died a death in the afternoon. There were suggestions it was due to the Wimbledon Woman’s final as the high street was generally quieter than normal. I still managed a profit but it was well below average across all stalls and even further below average for the last two visits to the same event. It’s now dropped from the top two down to position 8!

There’s no event this weekend, but next Saturday I’m back to the south coast and Lyndhurst!

WORK IN PROGRESS

Work on the second book in the Parallel Worlds series continues at pace and the MS is growing, almost hitting 60,000 words as I reach around the one third of the way through this current draft.

Right. That’s it for another weekly update! Comments and suggestions welcomed as always, and if you’d like to read LOST AMONGST THE STARS for free in exchange for a review please leave a comment.
