I’m about half way through the second draft of the follow up to LOST AMONGST THE STAR and it’s coming along nicely, what more can be said about that!

MARKETING & PROMOTION

My sales for the zombie series dropped right off at the beginning of the week and after a couple of days I thought I’d check if there was anything wrong with the ads. I’m glad I did because I found the ad set turned off so the campaign was running and spending my money but not actually delivering any ads. As soon as I turned it back on the sales came back. I have no idea how it happened, whether it was an accidental touch by me or if there was a system glitch, but it’s certainly something to watch out for again!

Reviews for LOST AMONGST THE STARS have really slowed up, and I don’t want to be annoying and chase people up again but I think I might have to soon. I so far have seven reviews, including my first 1 star rating! I’m not too bothered as it makes the listing seem more realistic but it would have been good for them to post a review so I could see what they didn’t like.

Last weekend I thought I’d take a punt of running some Facebook ads for LATS. I knew it would likely fail because of the low review numbers and there only being one book in the series, but hey, I thought what the heck. I produced an ad and created a £5 a day advert and hit publish. As of Thursday evening I’d sold 8 books and 3 more books worth of page reads. I then happened to look at the ad settings and noticed that somehow, probably another mistake by me, the budget was set to £10 per day. That kind of ruins the results really. I’ve so far spend £40 and made royalties of £13.50. That’s not exactly sustainable, but it is good to know that the ads attract some interest and that this series might be profitable once the audiobook is published and the sequels follow.

Yesterday I correcting the budget and restarted the campaign to give the project a fair go.

EVENTS

This week I will be in Lyndhurst in the New Forest. I’ve only attended this event once before but it was very successful so let’s see if I can match or beat the target. I also like this one because there is plenty of parking at the venue!
