MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – GLAMOUR

WORK IN PROGRESS

I’ve reviewed the audio for LOST AMONGST THE STARS and sent back a handful of changes, including a couple of typos the narrator spotted. I’m hoping the audiobook will be out by the end of the month as I’m told the current wait time for approval is around a week.

Progress on the next book (ADRIFT AMONGST THE STARS) is coming along well still and I’m almost halfway through this revision pass whilst keeping the word count to my target. I have to say it’s been very useful listening to LATS whilst writing the second book as I’ve had to update a few thing to keep the continuity correct.

MARKETING & PROMOTION

The good sales streak has tailed off and so I’ve re-published the Facebook advert which normally revitalises things. It’s promising so far.

I really must write a newsletter, but I have to find something interesting to say. Perhaps I’ll wait until the new audiobook is available and use it a platform.

EVENTS

I was at Godalming this last Saturday gone and based on the only other two times I’d been there I had very low expectations. This mindset served me well because, despite not hitting the average profit level for all events, I did better than I had at the last two appearances there. I haven’t signed up for next year, in fact I don’t think they’re even having the event there next year, so it’s no loss. The town is close to Guildford so I might come across some of the same people later in the year.

THE FUTURE

I’ve been mulling over whether to continue posting this blog on a weekly basis as the information I share is quite similar from week to week. It’s not all glitz and glamour as an indie author! I get no revenue from this weekly effort but it does give me somewhere to record my thoughts. I do however fear it might be boring. If you’re still interested in hearing my weekly report, then let me know in the comments. I might, as an alternative, switch it up to being monthly, or maybe give it a break until I have something useful to say.

That’s it for this week. Catch you on the flip side.
