MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – TAXING

I’m a little late with my monthly post, and this one should be all about what happened in March. So let’s get in with it!

EVENTS

I kicked off events season with three in a row. Devizes, Abingdon and Wallingford. This is the first year where I’m only doing events which I’ve got a track record of good sales. Most of which I have been to at least three times, apart from Wallingford which is a new event.

All three events delivered, especially for the time of the year, validating my approach.

The new signage updates to the table have gone down well, especially the sign showing that the books are available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited and Audible. Yesterday I had a guy buy the audiobook for LOST AMONGST THE STARS right in front of me.

I have two more events, Thame and Henley for the rest of April and hopefully the positivity will continue.

WORK IN PROGRESS

ADRIFT AMONGST THE STARS released on 21st March and there were several encouraging pre-orders and it has its first review (5 stars!). The manuscript is with the audiobook narrator and soon hope to have details of when it will be ready for me to review.

The third book in the series is coming along nicely and I’m working on a major revision draft, adding a load of detail needed now that I have a good idea where the story, across two books, is going. I’m about half way through that process and once I’m done I’ll be moving over to the next book.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

I’ve been running Facebook ads for a month now and I just about broke even. As I’ve said before, I’d much rather be making loads of sales and making no money rather than just making no money. This is because of all of the other benefits of sales, such as reviews, ranking and visibility.

That said, I’m trying another advert and targeting, re-using an old one, to see if that helps.

EVERYTHING ELSE

There’s not too much time for working on anything else, but there are things going on in the background that I can’t talk about yet. The only other thing going on is getting my accounts ready, and for once I’ve completed it already, just as the year ends!
