MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – ALL THE STARS

PERSONAL UPDATE

With the restrictions having eased in England over the last few weeks we’re taking full advantage and going to see our friends at the weekend. It something we would normally do once a month but haven’t done since the 2019. I think we’re going to have sore heads on Sunday!

EVENTS

My low expectations for the market stall in Staines-Upon-Thames at the weekend were paid back with a small profit! Despite the intermittent rain, I got to meet with lots of really interesting people and some of the even bought books. The novellas did their intended thing on the day, even though I had to be rescued by my wife when I forgot to bring them along!

In other events news, it looks like the Wokingham event on 19th June has been cancelled, although I will only know for sure ten days before. I have tried to book a replacement but they are now fully booked. This means that the next event will be on 26th & 27th June, also in Wokingham but with a different provider. I always look forward to these events so it’s a shame when they get cancelled.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Beginning of the End Audiobook – I still haven’t made a decision on the narrator for this book, which is unusual for me. I think this is because I’ve been so busy. I plan to make a decision this weekend.

Purple Rain Series – Book 1 – This is progressing well with 64,000 words drafted and another 10,000 to go.

From the Dead – Minimal progress on this read-through but it’s getting there.

SALES AND MARKETING

In the Facebook group, The Written Undead, I’ve just completed a giveaway of 25 prizes of signed copies of my novellas and books plus a survival kit. I’ve made loads of new connections from the giveaway and received over 100 more subscribers to my mailing list and it’s not stopping there. From 1st June I’ll be hosting other authors in the group giving away more of their books and merch.

General sales are positive, giving me an above average gross profit. I put that down mostly to the intense marketing I’m doing with the group and to individuals. Great reviews are still coming in and I passed 200 reviews for IN THE END on Amazon.com, and I’m not far behind in the UK either. All that and I still have a 4.3 star average. Oh and I even had one of the members of the Zombie group do a great video review! You can check it out below.

I’m thinking about starting a fan page on Facebook for my work following advice from a fellow author who has done this very successfully. The only thing is I don’t want to be the only member. I’m putting the question to my mailing list subscribers to find out if they think it’s a good idea or not.

That’s about it for this week. I think I covered everything. Comments and suggestions welcomed as always.
