EVENTS
Devizes turned out to be a great event. I didn’t make quite as much as the last time I was there but it was on a par. OPERATION DAWN WOLF, STOPPING POWER and FATE’S AMBITION sold really well and I even sold my first dyslexia friendly book to a woman who loved the format and said it was so much easier to read.
My next event is on the 10th June and is another strong location, Salisbury! I can’t wait to see how my new books fair!
WORK IN PROGRESS
THEIR RIGHT TO VENGEANCE is coming along well, I’m about 20% through this revision. I’ve also been fleshing out some of the content for my advanced publishing book, concentrating on Facebook advertising as it’s what I’m most involved in.
I’m still toying with the idea of getting YOUR BOOK WON’T SELL ITSELF produced on audiobook, but I’m yet to make up my mine. On the subject of audiobooks, I’m still trying to get time to finish off the review of STOPPING POWER season 1 audio. I’m up to episode 13 of 15 but I feel really guilty that it’s not done yet. However, I can’t magic the time out of nowhere! Reviewing the audio for my books is still my least favourite author task!
The event sales for STOPPING POWER were a real surprise but they were bought by people who were interested in both my two main genres and I sold it to them as a great way to get to know my fiction, and it worked. I’ve had to order a load more books now because I wasn’t planning on holding that much stock!
MARKETING & PROMOTION
My flash sales went very well, with double the return on my advertising spend, being the most effective at £1.99/$1.99 but they’re still selling at the second price of £2.99/$2.99. Page reads are well up too, smashing through the most I’ve seen in the last thirty days. I saw a drop off in sales yesterday, but I need to remind myself to look at the wider picture. If on more days I’m passing the threshold then that’s fine because if could either be an off day, or people have ordered paperbacks which only report when they ship, or it could be a reporting delay, or they could have the book in the basket, or they could have downloaded it to their Kindle Unlimited library, or could have ordered the audiobook. All of these would result in a reporting delay.
STOPPING POWER advertising is however running consistently at a loss these last few days and if it stays that way then I’ll either ditch the advert, or accept a small daily loss in hope of reviews.
I’ve produced Amazon A+ content for YOUR BOOK WON’T SELL ITSELF and I’m toying with the idea of advertising it on Facebook just to see if it will get it shifting off the shelves, but this one is in an even worse position than STOPPING POWER for advertising because it’s not on Kindle Unlimited.
I think that about covers everything for this week. Now I’m off to Bath for an awesome weekend away with my wife!
