This week has been very frustrating because my Facebook ad have stopped converting and nothing I have done has worked. I’ve checked the copy, the link, made sure there’s nothing wrong with my Amazon pages and I can’t find any reason. So now I’ve changed tack and instead of advertising the series and taking them to the first book, IN THE END, I am instead promoting the free giveaway of the novella, BEGINNING OF THE END, via BookFunnel.
Before I could do that I went through the whole process to make sure I was happy with it, including the landing pages and the automations designed to provide follow up emails after people sign up. I also produced a new advert and copy which were not too different to the last, then I pressed for it to go live on Wednesday night. The great news is I’m getting sign ups and I had strong page reads too, but I can’t be sure those are connected to the ad.
I’ve also decided to clean up my newsletter subscription list and I’ve sent an email to all the inactive members of the list and if they don’t take any action then they will be unsubscribed and I won’t have to pay for them. This is something you should regularly do to keep your list fresh. I’ve had 20 unsubscribes and some people click the link to stay on board but I expect most of them haven’t opened it because my emails are stuck in spam. It looks like I’m going to be getting rid of a third of my list!
I had a very small and short lived peak in sales for STOPPING POWER and for page reads, so I’m putting that down to my radio appearance!
WORK IN PROGRESS
I have 17,000 words to go until the current revision round of THEIR RIGHT TO VENGEANCE is complete and I’m hoping to have it done by the end of next week. Then it will be a run through with ProWritingAid and then another read through before it’s off to the editor. I think around a month or so is realistic until I’m writing something else.
Although I spent an hour or two mulling over my new time travel sci-fi story and filled in a few more ideas, I haven’t done much more on that.
EVENTS
Last week I was in Romsey in Hampshire and it was looking like it would be a below average day until one of the members of the Zombie Facebook group popped along and bought five books! That turned it into an average day.
This Saturday I am in Lewes in East Sussex and I’m looking forward to another event which I haven’t yet been too. Next week is when I have to select the venues for next year and I haven’t so far found any I wouldn’t attend again. I will give Newbury one more cancel.
That’s it for this week. Catch you on the next one!
