WORK IN PROGRESS
LOST AMONGST THE STARS is now off for edit and it should be back within the month. Once complete I will prepare for a limited paperback release and get it sent off to literary agents.
Not wanting to take any time off from writing, I decided to read and edit the first episode I wrote a little while back for STOPPING POWER season two. That took me a couple of days and then I tried to think about where I planned to take the book. I’ve got loads of ideas of what I want to do but nothing cohesive. That’s not unusual for this stage in a project but it meant I wasn’t super excited about it. In the end I spent a couple of hours thinking about what I would do next with the LATS sci-fi series. I wrote a list of all the possible new dimensions the crew could discover, crossing some out as vastly unworkable without some serious research, like what would happen if the Roman empire never fell!
With the interest in this next book already building, I decided to think about the plot and at the end of session I’d pinned down what I wanted it to go. Since then I’ve got a basic outline for the premise of the book and have fleshed out the first six chapters. Although that sounds impressive, the nature of the structure means they’re very short.
This book will see the crew of the Mary May travelling to many different dimensions in their quest to recover something fundamental to them getting home.
I’ve not yet decided which project I’m going to work full time on yet, so at the moment I’ll dip in and out of them both until I make a decision. Although part of me knows it will probably be LATS!
I feel like I haven’t done any organic writing for a very long time and at first it took me a little while to get back into the swing of it as I feel I’ve been editing and re-writing for so long.
EVENTS
This Saturday I’m back in Salisbury, one of my most profitably events and, as always, I’m excited to see how it goes. I’ve also pinned down the design of the modifications to my table furniture and now I just need to do a bit of woodwork, then some testing when I get time. It’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK so hopefully if the weather is good I will get a chance to get the circular saw out!
MARKETING AND PROMOTION
After saying in last week’s blog that I didn’t think it was time to republish the Facebook campaign yet, that’s exactly what I did the following day and the results have been great! On Tuesday I managed to make four times the advertising spend, whereas it has been sitting at around two and a half times.
That’s about it for this week. Back to flipping between the two projects.
GJ,
May your writing between books be flipping fantastic. Enjoy your weekend.
