MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – IN MY HANDS

STOPPING POWER

The final episode is out today on Kindle!! Whoop Whoop. That’s it. Season one officially done. Yes it’s a little sad but I’m so heavily into another project I’ll get by, and of course the production of the different release versions continue.

It’s great to see all of the A6 paperbacks together.

Here’s the link to episode 15 in case you forgot!

I have a proof of the complete season one paperback edition on its way to me shortly. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in my hands!

The complete season is now with my narrator and we’re working on the tone. She’s also going to produce audio versions of both of my Carrie Harris short stories, (Harm’s Way and Out of the Blue) although I don’t know what I’m going to do with them yet.

I’ll soon hit the send button on the updated version of Episode 1 as an A6 copy which rather than leading to the second episode, has details of the full paperback and kindle edition in the back. Getting another five hundred copies so they should last me a fair while!

PUBLISHING BOOK

The current project is progressing well and is about three quarters through the second edit as it gets close to the fifty thousand words mark. Another week or so and I’ll transfer to MS Word and, along with the next editing pass, I’ll start rudimentary formatting. It should be interesting as it will be my first non-fiction formatting exercise since SURVIVOR. It’s this stage where I need to think about the trim size, or rather the dimensions of the paperback. Like SURVIVOR, I’m thinking of 6 x 9 as that worked well for that title, however I don’t won’t it to be too thin.

EVENTS

This Friday is my first craft fair of the year and I’m back at Guildford! Can’t wait!

OTHER STUFF

For once, I have my accounts up to date and it’s not even the end of the tax year. I need not have worried that I’d made a profit (I didn’t want to have to pay the tax), but it was close this year. If I hadn’t continued investing in new books then I probably would be in the black.

That’s about it for this week, see you next week for an update on how Guildford went with the new prices and the cold weather!
