WORK IN PROGRESS
With my publishing book back from the editor I had the updates and formatting set within a couple of days then finalised the cover, created an index, which I’ve finally figured out an easy way to do, and now I have an uncorrected proof for delivery tomorrow whilst my wife proof reads the final text.
I’ve recruited a decent number of ARC readers from the zombie group, which includes a lot of my target audience of aspiring or first time authors, so I can see the book going out to them at the weekend with perhaps a release date of the ebook in a couple of weeks time. The lead time now depends on getting the delivery of the first author copies. All is looking well for the middle of May.
I’m very proud of this book, especially as it shows a lot more of my personality and is quite different to most other things I’ve done. I’m itching to write another non-fiction book but I haven’t yet found the right topic.
Here are a few ideas I’ve had.
- How to cut costs and save money. My day job is all about saving water for large organisation but I wouldn’t write a book about that as it would conflict with my work, however I could include it as a chapter within a book including about saving money on energy with energy efficiency. I could also add in loads of tips and cost saving ideas gathered from my experience and research.
- A deeper dive into writing, publishing and marketing aspects. I could produce a series of short, but very detailed guides relating to the individual tasks and activities I talk about in the new book.
A have a few other ideas but I haven’t explored them too much yet.
Despite delays to Their Right to Vengeance because of the above, I’ve still managed to hit the 80% mark on this first round of editing and within a couple more weeks I should be on to the next round.
EVENTS
This Saturday I’m at Cranleigh Village Hall hoping to keep the trend of growing sales each month!
ADVERTISING DIARY
Here’s the penultimate entries in the diary. I think I’d be mad not keep up the advertising campaign in May, which I will, but I’m not necessarily going to publish the detailed figures every week.

No sales yesterday but not a bad amount of pages reads paid for half the advertising cost. I got my first review (a four star) which I can likely credit to the campaign. I should have noted the amount of ratings the books had before I started so I could see progress on that too!

Page reads saved Thursday and covered the ad costs plus a little more!
That’s it for this week, next week I’ll be back with pictures of the proof and hopefully reports of a successful event!
