MY PUBLISHING JOURNEY – STACKED

EVENTS

I’m thinking about cancelling my appearance at Marlborough next Saturday as COVID cases are rising in the UK and it would be the worst time to catch it again as it would put my long awaited holiday in jeopardy.

Everyone at the office for my day job are testing daily, and so are our kids, and we’re heightening our precautions, but I’m paranoid that we’ll get it just at the wrong time. I know need to chill a little and the events are actually well controlled from an infection perspective. There is a table between me and the public and I use the anti-bac I have on my table every time I have touched someone or I feel there is a risk. I’ll have to wait and see what the figures are doing as the week goes on.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Stopping Power – An Agent Carrie Harris Undead Story – Episodes two and three are complete and ready to send for edit, and with four almost finished, they should be off in the next couple of days.

Before I started the final review, I took a short break, leaving them to rest and I started writing episode five, which is now at two and a half chapters. I then went on to expand out the outlines for episodes six and seven to make sure the work I’ve done on the previous episodes has everything, such as foreshadowing etc, that I needed. This means I can be pretty confident I can sign off two, three and four when the editing is completed.

My editor is able to fit in with my timescale, so these should be fine for release from the start of September.

I have to say, I’m really enjoying writing this series, but in the back of my mind I still feel a little guilty for putting the weather apocalypse novel I’ve been working on for the last year to the side, but perhaps the break will do the story some good when I get back to it.

I now have over 1,500 copies of the short stories stored in my house and with another 500 arriving today, this time STOPPING POWER – BRASS PIKE, I’m lucky they don’t take up too much space. I will be having another think about how I can give them away / sell them to boost sales of the full series.

I have some other very exciting news which happened this week, but for now I’m going to have to keep it to myself until the details are sorted out. You can however rest assured that you’ll be amongst the first to know the details.

Another short one this week, I’m itching to get back to working on the writing, so I’ll catch you next week. Comments and suggestions welcomed as always.
