My last minute change of venue on the previous Saturday from Godalming to Guildford Guildhall turned out to be as good as I’d hoped. The footwall was very high and although the sales started off slow, I ended up breaking both my turnover and profit target, hitting a three figure take home figure after all direct costs for the first time.

Also for the first time, both the IN THE END series and the Carrie Harris books sold almost equally. The short stories sold well and I managed to sell three of the book page holders, likely because they are great little products for stockings.

All these sales have meant that I have had to order more stock, which of course it great, but I’m not over ordering, instead I have just got enough to cover me until the end of the year, ready for the ten month event break over the winter.

The next event, tomorrow, will be in Sindlesham, near Wokingham. This is one I’ve been to about three times now and it’s a proper Christmas fair. In the previous years it has been across two days but now is only one, but the cost is the same. I’ll be interested to see how it works from a takings perspective.

STOPPING POWER

Today sees the release of STOPPING POWER: RED DOT – Episode 7. We’re nearly half way through the series!

Episode 8 is now available in the printed edition and 9 is about to head off for printing. I have blurb for the next one so I can put it in the back and then it will need formatting. Episode 10 is with my editor. 11 has a good draft. I’m now putting together a loose draft, which is a bit more than an outline, for episode 12, and then carrying this all the way to end of episode 15, the last episode. I’ve worked out that I have plenty of time to do this and know it will pay dividends, rather than having to coerce details into the story later on. Should time become an issue I can work on getting 11 out for editing to buy myself more.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

Sales are strong, in comparison to myself of course, and I’m seeing pretty strong read-through on the rest of the Carrie Harris books, which is of course one of my aims.
