STOPPING POWER
With fourteen episodes out on Kindle and the last on pre-order for release next Friday, it’s a great feeling to be at the end of the writing phase of the project, but the work doesn’t stop there.
The cover design for the complete series in one volume, which I’ll now refer to as STOPPING POWER – SEASON ONE, and I love it. I wish I could show you but it’s not quite the right time as I’m yet to consider my release strategy. I will however be working towards getting a printed proof of the paperback in the next couple of weeks.
I have also kicked off the audiobook conversation with the narrator of the previous Carrie books and as she’s up for it I will make that formal in the coming days. After research, I decided that I will be publishing the audiobook wide through Findaway Voices. This is the service I used for the production of BEGINNING OF THE END and CAPITAL ACTION, both of which I giveaway free. I am told that the service has changed since I last used it and is more like ACX, but better. This will mean that although the book will be available on Audible I will be tied to a 25% royalty share and not the 40% if I were exclusive. However as Audible only have 40% of the audiobook market, it could be worth the experiment.
If it works, I also hear that Audible will release authors from their exclusive deals with 90 days notice now, rather than the previous 7 years. I could look at moving my other content as I don’t make much from my audiobooks, in comparison to my other delivery methods.
PUBLISHING BOOK
I’ve completed the first draft and I’m about a quarter of the way through the second draft. With the addition of an ever growing glossary of industry terms and a new section diving into the writing and publishing details of my novels, the word count is well on its way to my desired figure of fifty thousand.
EVENTS
I have now confirmed four new events for the year as follows:
- Romsey 1st July 2023
- Lewes 8th July 2023
- Salisbury 12th August 2023
- Lyndhurst 26th August 2023
Out of these three I have only attended Salisbury before, so it will be great to see what they’re like.
Next Saturday is my first event of the year and I’m back in Guildford!!
I think that’s quite enough for this week, so I can get on with some writing. Comments and suggestions welcomed as always.
So how do you publish your books. On amazon?
